Airtel Kenya Partners with Facebook to Bring Internet to Kenyans

Earlier today Facebook announced that it has partnered with one of Kenya’s Telcom companies, Airtel Kenya to make internet accessible to Kenyans of all walks of life.


Through the initiative, Internet.Org Kenyans will be able to access many resources online free of charge.

Internet.Org is a global partnership with 6 global telecommunications companies that will have the ultimate goal of making internet access available to the other 5 billion people on the planet. These companies have partnered to bring internet connectivity to the remaining population outside of the 2.7 billion connected folks, the ultimate aim is to offer everyone similar opportunities to access the net. The project focuses on making access to the internet more affordable and allowing people to use data more efficiently.

Facebook is working with a bevvy of telecom and technology companies to enable users to gain access to certain services from their phone without cost.

The official launch of the project will take place this Thursday 27th November at 6.00pm at one of Kenya’s premier startup incubation centre Nailab.
