Startup Battlefield LATAM in Sao Paulo, Brazil took place last evening and along with interviews with Nubank, Movile, Yellow, and a keynote from Facebook (TC’s partner for the event through FB Start), 15 startups from all across Latin America pitched their ideas.
The 15 were competing for a $25,000 prize (equity free), plus a trip for 2 to TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2019 and the coveted, objectively correct title of “Latin America’s Favorite Startup.”
For each round, teams pitched for six minutes, including a live demo, followed by an intense six minute Q&A with the judges. After judge deliberations, five companies moved on to the final round with the same pitch but a more rigorous Q&A.
The winner was:
Olho do Dono – offers software that uses a portable 3D camera to estimate cattle weight, allowing cattle owners to monitor livestock weight evolution in a frequent and stress-free manner.
The runner up:
Unima – developed a fast and low-cost diagnostic and disease surveillance technology that allows anyone, even people with no technical training, to diagnose a disease at the point of care, without using lab equipment, with results in 15 minutes and at $1 per test.
1Doc3 – has developed a platform that allows users to ask healthcare questions to doctors anonymously, and for free.
Agilis – an online asset-backed lending platform, based in Argentina. Agilis monetizes customer assets to empower them with simple and fast access to convenient financing.
Cuenca – offers a no fee, fast response banking service.
The other ten participants who participated in the challenge include:-
LoopKey – an access control platform, that enables people to control their doors and gates.
Brandtrack – improves the shopping experience of customers by using music software that is specifically designed to fit any brand.
RxChain by Prescrypto– an app for doctors, clinics and pharmacies that can create, send, and track electronic prescriptions.
Elenas – An online, beauty shopping platform
Finerio – an automated and free personal finance platform in Mexico
Space AG – Enables farmers to digitize their Fields so as to increase productivity
Cuidas – a health tech startup that wants to improve healthcare access and delivery in Brazil.
Nube – Manage and monitor your gas consumption, create alerts and place orders.
SimpliRoute – is a SaaS web platform for SMBs that allows customers to optimize their delivery routes, and track each in real time.
