Oklahoma City startup, Datebox, offers a monthly subscription box for couples that are dating. The monthly box comes with items and ideas to fire up date night, no not necessarily in a sexy way, but with creative fun ideas. There may sushi for two or a camping night complete with ghost stories and directions for making s’mores.
“Our “secret sauce” isn’t the individual items in the box, but the connection part of the date. This can range from a game to an activity or a DIY. Our instruction card walks you through the entire date, and every element is tied in. We won’t send a bunch of random items, and expect you to pull them into a meaningful date. Plus, we change it up every month – just to keep you surprised! It’s all designed to maximize your time together, and bring you closer together.” the company says on their website.
Datebox just closed a $2.6 million dollar seed round to grow the business, which already has customers in all 50 states.
The round was led by i2E-managed Oklahoma Seed Capital Fund. Seed Step Angels group (also managed by i2E) added $300,000 to the round with the remainder coming from private investors.
“The funding will be used to personalize the dating experience for our couples, as well as building a platform that allows us to partner with local businesses to send our couples out into their communities for their date night,” Datebox co-founder and CEO Brett Kolomyjec said in a statement.
“Date night is such a crucial part of any relationship and we want to do everything we can to help couples make that experience simple and fun.” Kolomyjec added.
