South Korean tech giant Samsung launched its newest flagship the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge at this year’s MWC.

The Galaxy S7 is similar to its predecessor the S6 in terms of design with the same glass-metal design and the dual-edge screen though the screen has been bumped up to a5.7-inch AMOLED screen.

Something else that is slightly different is the rear camera with a new technology that the company is calling ‘Dual Pixel.’

Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge ‘Dual Pixel’ helps deliver sharp, and brighter pictures even in low-light, says the company. Additionally the camera has a faster shutter speed, and a more accurate auto-focus, even in low-light conditions. Samsung has also introduced what it called ‘Motion Panorama’ mode, which brings movement to traditional panoramic photos.

The Galaxy S7 series has a ‘Dual Pixel’ 12 megapixel rear camera with F1.7 aperture with Smart OIS feature. The front camera is five megapixel with F1.7 aperture. The battery in the Galaxy S7 is 3,000 mAh and supports fast-charging along with wireless charging.

Sensors in the Samsung Galaxy S7 are: Accelerometer, Proximity, RGB Light, Geo-magnetic, Gyro, Fingerprint, Barometer, Hall and HRM.

Samsung has not introduced USB-Type C charging for the new smartphones as was rumoured.

The processor of the Samsung Galaxy S7 series has not been confirmed either. The Galaxy S7 appears to have two processors, one is a 64-bit octa-core processor (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad) and the second a 64-bit quad-core processor (2.15GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Dual). Samsung has not revealed whether it is using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 as rumours had indicated.

With the Galaxy S7, Samsung has also re-introduced the micro-SD slot feature in the smartphone and the new series supports up to 200 GB of extra space.

The new Galaxy S7 series also features Samsung KNOX, fingerprint scanning, Samsung Pay works with NFC (Near Field Communication), and Barcode technology as well.

Samsung says the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be available starting mid-March 2016. The company will be giving Gear VR headsets free with the Galaxy S7, S7 edge for a limited time.
