Tech giant Microsoft on Friday introduced its Cortana virtual assistant to several countries including Italy, Spain, Germany and France. But the more exciting news to hear is the unreleased Windows 10 builds: Cortana running on the desktop.

Two Microsoft-enthusiast sites WinBeta and Neowin posted the first screenshots of the desktop version of Cortana virtual assistant by Microsoft. Adding to the excitement, WinBeta also shared a video showing Cortana in its new form.

The sites also explained the users about the utility of Cortana and its functions. But they also served warning of the users that Cortana’s feature is not yet ready for prime time naturally.

There is huge speculation among the tech crazy people that Microsoft will unveil Cortana during its Windows 10 consumer preview event, scheduled for next month. However, the exact time of arrival of the virtual assistant for the testers is still unclear.

Elaborating upon the Cortana’s functionality, the sites said that it behaves just like on Windows Phone in some way. You can make Cortana keep track of your daily schedules or occasional events by adding reminders and calendar items just like your phone.

Using Cortana, you can also make call via Skype if you have all the contact information fed in your address book. In case of Windows Phone, you can directly call people.

So, get ready to make best out of the exciting Cortana which is ready to be launched soon.

Cortana also offers you to play and pause music, search maps for navigational purposes and get traffic information, launch apps, and also check the weather.
