Perception Neuron Becomes the Most Funded Kickstarter Project from China

With only 48 hours left in their fundraising campaign, the Perception Neuron team has been honored with the title of the most highly funded project based in China since Kickstarter was launched in April 2009. With an original target goal of $250,000, the campaign is expected to reach close to half a million dollars by closing on September 12.

The company, which was founded in 2011, works with a team of dedicated engineers who develop world-class motion capture technology for consumer and industrial markets through the integration of MEMS sensors, pattern recognition, human kinetics and wireless transmission.

“We are overwhelmed with the support from our backers,” exclaims Tristan Dai, developer and co-founder of the company. “Haoyang and myself are so grateful for all the encouragement and shared passion people have for our project. We honestly could not have done it without them and our team.”

Perception Neuron is not the first project from China to hit Kickstarter. Several others have been funded including games, simulators, robot arms, 3D printers and even a virtual gaming rig.

“We are becoming the land of ‘makers,’” explains Haoyang Liu, CEO and co-founder of the company. “All our staff and friends are young techies and geeks who love to develop and create. This is a new movement in China and we are proud to be part of it, and even prouder to be supported by an international community who believes in our product and its capabilities.”

Perception Neuron is touted as the worlds smallest, most affordable and adaptive motion capture system developed for virtual reality and visual effects applications. The system will come ready to work out of the box when it delivers in February 2015 with virtual reality games, motion capture software, and SDKs for OSX, Windows, UNITY and Oculus Rift. Pricing during the Kickstarter campaign ranges from $220 to $550.
