Campaign Spotlight: IRO by IRONOVA the first universal smartband.

We had a chance to talk to Yann Franchi of Ironova LLC about their new invention- IRO, the first universal smartband and their exciting campaign on Indiegogo. Check out our Q&A session.


Hi Yann, please give us a brief background about yourself.

Where is Ironova LLC located?

We are based in Marseille France

What is the name of your campaign?

IRO by IRONOVA the first universal smartband.

Give us some description about your project

Our startup is 2 years old. We’ve been working on a smartband IRO with a unique design and concept. IRO has 7 colors for 7 profiles, 12 days of autonomy. It’s easy to charge using aUniversal Micro USB. Bluetooth and USB sync with PC, Mac, smartphones and Tablets.

What is your campaign seeking to do?

We need to raise funds to make the first order and reduce the unit cost and be more credible with the suppliers. We already made 3 versions of prototypes.

Are there any other team members?

Yes, my partners Laurent Dethoor who is the software and electronic developer of IRO. Also we have Hiroshi an experienced industrial designer who designed IRO taking care of restrictions of the size of the PCB and Battery and making IRO waterproof. We also have Thomas working in the marketing and communication.

We launched the campaign one month ago

129 but we have 13000 Facebook fan so far.

How do you reward those who contribute to your campaign?

We reward them with smartbands

Why did you select Indiegogo as your platform of choice as opposed to others?

Indiegogo is one of the best platform with kickstarter and allow realistic rendering of the final product.

Does the platform help you in any way with your campaign?

Not yet

How do you pay the platform for running your campaign on their platform?

They take a percentage of the contribution

How have you promoted your campaign?

Physical promotion flyer and posters, social media (Facebook, twitter, google+, Instagram and YouTube), press release on international platform, Raffles of the App JUNOWALLET and radio show, I’ve been interviewed on fun RADIO, and also interviewed by Kedge Business School. We are working with “the Crowd fund boutique” on a performance plan based.

What have been most challenging about running your campaign?

First there is finding people who want to write content on our product, and secondly setting the campaign page and making two commercials for it.

What has been most rewarding about your campaign?

So far to reach our first goal.
