According to reports by TechCrunch, Yahoo is set to acquire Hitpost, the maker of sports mobile apps, in an effort to grow its presence in the sports app space on iOS and Android.

San Francisco based Hitpost, known for its Fantasy Football Polls and Sports Bet apps, was co-founded by Aaron Krane in 2009 who shifted into an executive chairman role from the CEO position. So far the company has raised $2 million.

Hitpost’s seven employees are expected to join yahoo at to Sunnyvale though Aaron Krane will not be making the move.

The Hitpost purchase is just the latest in Yahoo’s push to beef up its own mobile sports lineup.
