If you are looking at mid-priced, quad-core devices, you may have considered the Spice Pinnacle FHD and the Micromax Canvas 4. They are both priced around the same value, between Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 17,000, but the devices have a few important hardware differences. Each device has its merits, so how do you know which is the right device for you?
Spice Pinnacle FHD
The Spice Pinnacle FHD is the best device till date from Spice Mobiles and it only comes in one color, which is a mixture of black and white, and has a pretty solid build. The device has a 5-inch FHD display, which is refreshing to see on a mid-priced device. FHD displays are typically only seen on high-end devices.
The Spice Pinnacle FHD has a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 1GB of RAM. The device comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded through microSD. The device also has an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The 1080p recording was estimated to record at 30fps, however, it only does 19fps and the recording is choppy. For 720p recording, the device can capture 29fps.
Additional features include dual-SIM capability, Wi-Fi, and 3G support. The Spice Pinnacle FHD is powered by 2,100 mAh battery. The device is priced at Rs. 16,990. For a FHD device, this is a good price. The 1080p recording has some quirks, but some users may be able to overlook them.
Micromax Canvas 4
The Micromax Canvas 4 also has a pleasant appearance with its metal accents and slender body. Similar to the Spice Pinnacle FHD, the device has a 5-inch display, but with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, with a 294ppi pixel density. So the display isn’t as advanced as the display on the Spice Pinnacle FHD.
The Micromax Canvas 4 also has a quad-core processor, but the Canvas 4’s processor is clocked at 1.2GHz. The Canvas 4 has 1GB of RAM, and has 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via microSD to up to 32GB. The device also has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5.0-megapixel front-facing camera, which can record in 720p. The cameras on the Canvas 4 are clearly more powerful than the slightly buggy cameras on the Spice Pinnacle FHD.
Other features include dual-SIM capability, Wi-Fi, 3G support, and the device has a 2,000 mAh battery. The device can be found for around Rs. 16,627 currently, which is very close to the price of the Spice Pinnacle FHD.
It really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want more internal storage and a more powerful camera, the Micromax Canvas 4 is likely the right choice for you. If you like the FHD display of the Spice Pinnacle FHD or a slightly improved processor, go with that device. They are both fairly powerful quad-core, mid-priced devices. The average user would be satisfied with either.
