Socrative is a smart student response system that runs on tablets, Smartphones, desktops and laptops. This system is flexible and empowers teachers by engaging their students with a series of educational exercises and games, for instance, quizzes, quick exercises, short answer questions for individual students, group work, among many.
HOW IT WORKS:
A teacher simply logs in through their device and selects an activity through which they will control the flow of questions or maybe games.
Students also login with their preferred device and interact with their teachers on the content.
All of this occurs instantly, in real time.
Student responses are represented in various modes; i.e. they can respond to short answer questions, have multiple choices or true/false responses.
This response system is amazing in that for pre-planned activities teachers can view reports online as Google spreadsheets or even as emailed Excel files.
As a teacher, after downloading the Socrative Teacher App, you create an account. This account can be accessed via the app or online using a browser. Once in the teacher’s account, the options are to create, edit, and manage your quizzes and surveys, download reports following quizzes and even import quizzes from other teachers. It’s flexible, easy to use, and can be applied on multiple platforms.
On the Socrative website, after login, one can find videos, user’s guide, and helpful articles concerning the blog, the teachers and the students.
Clearly, use of this app is going to elevate the learning system greatly all over the world if it picks up well and at least to a little extent, it will keep the student out of the “TV mode” and other destructive websites, thus making him or her pay more attention.
Makes one wonder, what’s there not to like about it?
