Lenovo has just revealed the latest refresh to the Ultrabook segment on its official website.
The 14-inch Haswell-powered Ultrabook sports a magnesium and carbon fiber chassis with spill resistant keyboard and is only 21mm thick. A 14-inch display comes with 1600 x 900 pixels resolution, but there is an optional multi-touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and In-Plane Switching (IPS). The IPS technology ensures that the screen is as viewable from different angles and it is from straight on. The display also comes with multi-touch to take advantage of the included Windows 8 OS.
The Ultrabook is powered by a 4th-generation Intel Core processor, but there are no details about what processor will be available. There are three USB 3.0 ports, one Mini DisplayPort and one VGA video output, and a SD card reader. Users also get two 3-cell batteries, one internal and one hot swappable. A 3-cell battery promises around six hours of life on a single charge.
Near-field communications is part of the package, letting users pair the T440s with other NFC-enabled devices. The array of ports includes a mini DisplayPort, smart card reader, and three USB 3.0 connections. Lenovo also offers two The T440s starts off at about 1.6kg and is 21mm at its thickest point, making it the lightest and thinnest ThinkPad T series unit, according to Lenovo.
There are no additional specifications and pricing data on the Lenovo site, but the ThinkPad T440S is listed as “coming soon.”
