Vodafone has launched the Vodafone Smart Mini, a new own-brand Android smartphone.
At 12mm thick and weighing 118g, the Vodafone Smart Mini a compact handset, with a battery good for 300 hours standby and 7 hours of 3G talk time. The Vodafone Smart Mini runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB. Other features present in the device includes the 3G HSPA mobile network connectivity is included, along with 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio and GPS satellite navigation, with Google Maps included as standard.
The 3.5in display has a low resolution 320×480 panel, with pixel density of 165 pixels per inch (PPI). It should be fine for basic tasks, but low enough that web browsing or taking long notes with the on-screen keyboard could be awkward.
The £50 Smart Mini is being sold with Vodafone’s PAYG Simply package, which charges a flat 25p per minute rate for calls and 12p for texts. Anyone topping up at least £10 a month will also receive Vodafone’s ‘Freebees’ package, which includes 30 days of unlimited text messages and 500MB of UK internet access.
