This Is Where The HTC One Wins:

Hardware

HTC has gone all-out in a bid to make sure that the One has the best hardware that is currently available. The manufacturer has been criticized often for launching mobiles that were outdated in terms of hardware, but this is not the case with the One. It includes the best in terms of hardware and software in the form of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Android is at a stage where it is nearly as good as iOS, if not slightly better. With a quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 processor and Adreno 320, the One beats the iPhone 5 in hardware. Some might feel the 4 MP camera is inferior to the one in the iPhone 5, but it has been shown to be far better at taking images in low-light conditions, and is equally good during the day.

Remote Control:

The HTC One can also act as a Remote control device to control TV’s with its in-built TV app. It uses the power button as an infra-red port to transmit signals where a user taps on the screen through the app. Unlike other remote controls, this smartphone feature prompts the user to specify the device name and its associated settings. Once the connection is successful, the device is powered-on and accessed through phone. If the connection cannot be established at the first try, it tries again and again until it determines the appropriate settings for the device. The Apple iPhone 5 doesn’t support this infra-red transmitter for controlling the Smart TV’s. iPhone 5 can control only the Apple TV by using Wi-Fi. Most manufacturers are looking for ways to ingratiate mobiles better into the living room, and it looks like HTC is also beginning to find ways to make the mobile more versatile.

Bigger Display:

HTC One comes with a bigger display of 4.7 inches when compared to the iPhone 5’s 4 inches display. Though the iPhone is branded to feature a Retina screen, in terms of the density of pixels, the One blows the iPhone 5 away, along with most of the other mobiles that are in the market today. HTC One also possesses higher resolution rate of 1920 X 1080 pixels against the 640 X 1136 that the iPhone 5 has. This bigger display is much more convenient for HD gaming, web browsing, video streaming and watching HD content on the go. But this bigger screen would only comfort users with larger hands as it stays compact in their hands for usage. Users with small hands may not prefer this model when it comes to convenient usage. However, HTC has done a great job in making sure that the One is not unwieldy, and is highly usable thanks to the contoured back.

Front Speakers and sound quality:

HTC One Speakers

HTC One has couple of speakers, which are located at the front side. The front facing nature of these ensure that the sound is not distorted if the mobile is on a level surface. Called BoomSound, these deliver sound of a higher quality and do not sound tinny, a feature that is often seen in mobiles these days. The iPhone 5’s single speaker is at the bottom of the mobile which is not very convenient when the user has to use the mobile while playing music. The user’s hands might block the speaker when he/she’s using the mobile simultaneously. HTC’s BoomSound Technology in this model also supports this effective sound generation, which assures unparalleled sound quality to users. The sound quality of HTC One is way better than iPhone 5’s sound output because it offers crystal clear and rich audio output during phone conversations and other functions with its built-in amplifiers and studio-quality Beats signal processing, which sees a tighter integration in the One.

Conclusion

HTC has done once again what they have always been good at: innovation and design. The One is a striking mobile to behold, and evokes a sense of desire. It encroaches on the iPhone 5’s territory in terms of design, and beats it outright in almost all segments. There haven’t been a lot of mobiles that can stake claim to beating a product that has been designed by the legendary Jony Ive. The One is a mobile that finally does. This is a year that is crucial for the Taiwanese manufacturer, as its fortunes hinge on the successes of the One. A look at the HTC mobile price in India serves to show that although HTC has a lot of mobiles in the market, it faces a battle against the likes of Samsung and others. With the one getting great reviews, this might actually be the year for HTC.
