Everybody is aware of the fact that Apple’s latest update, iOS 6.1 had been released a while ago. It is downloaded and installed on millions of supported devices all around the world.
The problem that many Apple devices owners encounter when it comes to iOS 6.1 is regarding jailbreaking, more precisely jailbreak 6.1 is only available as tethered, being available only for pre-A5 devices like iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4. This means that whoever owns one of these devices is able to perform a tethered jailbreak on your device using the latest version of Redsnow. In case you decide to do that, remember that the tethered jailbreak 6.1, as any other tethered jailbreak needs you to connect the device into your computer running Redsn0w whenever you start it up.
Using Cydia Instead of Apple Store
When the jailbreak is complete, the device will be back at the Lock screen. Unlock the device and swipe to the second Home screen page in order to see the Cydia application icon. Cydia is similar to the Apple Store, but it offers you more applications that are banned by the Apple Store. That shouldn’t be a problem because as I said, these two are similar and work the same way. The only big difference is given by the major number of apps that Cydia has to offer. Many of them need to be paid, but there are various apps that are free of charge.
Once your device is jailbroken, you must know that you are not supposed to update to the Apple Store anymore. That means that by jailbreaking your device, you got rid of the Apple boundaries, but you also gave up the Apple Store updates.
Waiting for the Untethered Jailbreak 6.1
Anyway, as I mentioned before, the untethered jailbreak 6.1 is not ready, yet but it is promised to be at the beginning of February, which is in just a couple of days. This is the reason why, I advise all of you to wait for the untethered jailbreak 6.1 instead of hurrying up with the tethered one. Until it arrives you can get ready for it by reading more about it online and, of course by backing up your devices, just to be prepared.
So, if you chose to do the tethered jailbreak 6.1, I wish you good luck; and in case you decided to wait for the untethered one, just be patient because it will arrive soon.
