Nobody quite knows what’s cooking at Facebook’s headquarter, but news out is that the social media giant will hold a mystery event tonight at its’ Silicon Valley HQ tonight to reveal ‘what we’ve been building”
Online rumors have suggested that the event will launch anything from a search engine to a new smartphone.
According to TechCrunch, after hounding those who may be in the know, the only forthcoming information was that the announcement will be “big” and “mobile”.
Despite Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg having dispelled rumours of a Facebook phone in 2011, some commentators remain convinced that such a device could be in the works.
Another possibility would be A Facebook search engine. This would definitely give Google a run for its money since unlike Google where search results are based on Page Rankings; Facebook could give more personalized results.
But that doesn’t mean that Google would be ready to move over for the new kid on the block. Remember Google Plus, Google’s social network is already integrated into Google Search results. If Facebook decide to launch its’ search engine, it will definitely have a tough battle ahead.
The launch could also mean new smartphone apps. Facebook apps for existing phones have recently been expanded to include many features found in other handsets, such as messaging and photo sharing through the recent purchase of Instagram
I guess we will all have to wait for the 11.30 pm event to see where the wind blows.
